Suntech News | Make the Way North to the Snowflake Kingdom! Suntech’s High-efficiency N-type Module Enters CTC’s Mohe Extreme Cold Test Park
Recently, the inaugural Forum of Low Carbon Development in High-altitude and Arctic-alpine Regions and Extreme Cold Test was held in Mohe, Heilongjiang Province, under the guidance of the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Heilongjiang Province and the Daxinganling Regional Administrative Office, and organized by Mohe Municipal People's Government and China Testing & Certification International Group Co., Ltd. (CTC).

The N-type TOPCon Glass-glass Bifacial Module of Suntech has officially entered the Mohe Extreme Cold Test Park of CTC for a one-year outdoor empirical test under extreme cold weather conditions.

Build a professional test park according to local conditions
Mohe, China’s northernmost city, is in the same latitude zones as some Northern European countries such as Norway and Sweden. With temperatures below -20℃ for six months of the year, it is the region with the worst extreme cold weather conditions in China. With years of endeavor in operating outdoor empirical test bases, CTC, the first organization in China to build a national outdoor empirical test platform for photovoltaic products, has been building the Extreme Cold Test Park in Mohe, Heilongjiang Province since 2022, aiming to take advantage of the climatic environment of Mohe to build an extreme cold empirical test park with advanced technologies and extensive verification fields.

In collaboration with CTC, Suntech has sent samples of its N-type TOPCon Glass-glass Bifacial Module to the test park to evaluate the module’s power generation performance and reliability in cold weather. Compared with simulation tests in laboratories, outdoor empirical tests can more accurately verify the actual performance of photovoltaic modules in complex real-world application scenarios. Previously, Suntech was invited to participate in the construction of the National Photovoltaic and Energy Storage Empirical Experimental Platform (Daqing Base) and demonstrated its high-performance and cost-effective photovoltaic products on the platform of the central enterprises and state-owned enterprises, providing strong data to support the technological progress and the overall development of the photovoltaic industry.

N-type Module, low temperature resistant
Suntech’s N-type TOPCon Glass-glass Bifacial Module adopts applicable sealing technology and provides excellent resistance to potential acid, alkali, salt fog, water vapor, UV, and Potential Induced Degradation (PID). Ensuring zero water penetration , the module has high load capacity and reliable quality, showing higher stability even in snow and ice, and can withstand up to 3,600 Pa of negative pressure and 5,400 Pa of positive pressure. The excellent low-temperature resistance performance and mechanical properties ensure the stable operation of the module in snow and ice and severe cold weather. With a bifacial design that ensures it makes full use of light reflection and scattering, and various types of brackets for different high-reflection application scenarios including snowfield and grassland, this module can get more power in the same period of time compared to products with a monofacial design. By doing so, it can help reduce the cost per kilowatt-hour and maximize its clients’ benefits.

Leverage its strength to penetrate the photovoltaic industry
As the world’s leading manufacturer of high-performance photovoltaic products, Suntech is committed to improving the conversion efficiency of its products, and has increased its investment in technology R&D. At present, Suntech owns a National-Level Testing Center for photovoltaic products certified by CNAS and equipped with more than 100 advanced testing machines, surpassing its peers in this regard. Going forward, Suntech will make full use of its strong technical capabilities to continuously improve product performance and reliability, promote product iteration, and lead the high-quality development of the photovoltaic industry.
