On September 23, 2019 (local time), the opening ceremony of Solar Power International (2019 SPI) was unveiled at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City of America, where Suntech showed up with various differentiated products.

Live Report
In light of the increasing trend of SPI in terms of both scale and influence year by year, Suntech has made a comeback this year in America, seeking global business opportunities and opening up the North American market again. This time, the Suntech booth demonstrated 4 differentiated products in total, which include MBB polycrystalline half-cell modules, monocrystalline bifacial half-cell modules, intelligent all-black modules and monocrystalline large-format half-cell modules.

Suntech’s Tigo intelligent modules, appearing in pure black, are in line with the aesthetics of modern architectural art and can be installed with various roof projects. The whole system is protected by an intelligent shut-off device through fireproof performance of the Tigo junction box, RSS transmitters and RSS signal detectors, so that user investments can be secured.

By combining P-type monocrystalline efficient bifacial cells with the white coating floor technology, Suntech’s monocrystalline PERC bifacial half-cell modules can output a maximum power up to 485W, a 25% increase at most. These products come with 12 years of product warranty and 30 years of quality assurance of linear performance. They are applicable to agriculture/fishery-solar complementary projects and special circumstances such as deserts and tidal-flat areas.

Market Overview
According to reports, an increase of customs duty from 25% to 50%, levied by the United States on Chinese products, including photovoltaic cells, modules and invertors, will come into effect from October 1, 2019, but is unlikely to have a measurable impact on import. Statistics show that the average volume of photovoltaic modules entered the United States per month in the first half of 2019 is about 600MW, a year-on-year increase of 16%. On the other hand, the price of these modules keeps declining, which may partly neutralize the influence of tariffs. Due to the abolition of Article 201 imposing limits on bifacial and transparent backsheet modules by the United States, the tax costs incurred during shipping such modules to the America may reduce by 25%, thus allow them to quickly expand its market dominance in the country. Suntech, who has been popularizing its bifacial products since 2018, also launched bifacial counterparts with transparent backsheet recently, thus laying a good foundation for exploring the US market.

Having marked so many successful results in the United States, such as the Roof Project at the San Francisco Airport, the Alamosa Large Surface Power Station Project at the Colorado snow mountain, and the Nellis Air Force Base Project in Nevada Desert… Suntech’s products have been widely applied and under excellent operations.
