In order to demonstrate the Wuxi Municipal Government’s recognition and support for the development of the renewable energy industry, the Organizing Committee of the 15th Conference, drawing on the experience of internationally renowned quality awards, has innovatively established the “Taihu Awards for Green Excellence” for the first time to provide value guidance and demonstration for the green, low-carbon and high-quality development of China’s renewable energy industry. The organizing committee of the conference entrusted the International Green Economy Association (IGEA) and the China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) to jointly establish a review committee and invited the National Center of Supervision and Inspection on Solar Photovoltaic Product Quality (CPVT) to provide technical support. Since its launch on July 15, 2023, the review committee has completed the Management Approach for Taihu Awards for Green Excellence and the General Principles for the Review of Taihu Awards for Green Excellence as the guiding documents for the selection. After several months of qualification review, document review and on-site review of the participating enterprises, IGEA and CQC held the defense review meeting for the selected units in Wuxi on October 25. Upon a comprehensive review, Suntech was selected as the final winner of the inaugural Taihu Awards for Green Excellence.
Industry benchmark with professional recognition
Mr Sha Zukang, Honorary President of IGEA and former Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, noted that the Taihu Awards for Green Excellence evaluated participants from the four perspectives of quality improvement, technological innovation, performance level and green development and that the enterprise winning the award will lead the photovoltaic industry in technological progress and green, low-carbon and high-quality development.
