Suntech attaches great importance to the role of patents in enterprise management and has set up a well-established intellectual property system. As of March 2020, Suntech has accumulatively applied for 866 patents and obtained 535 authorized patents which is leading in the domestic photovoltaic industry, and won several awards for its patents including the Chinese Patent Award of Excellence, the Jiangsu Province Patent Gold Medal, and the Wuxi Patent Gold Medal.

Foster technological innovation by managing intellectual property systematically
In November 2019, Suntech passed the GB/ T29490-2013 system certification and obtained its certificate for the national accreditation of Intellectual Property Management System. Through the implementation of standard certification, Suntech has polished intellectual property rights analysis and warning mechanism, established a full-cycle assessment mechanism for intellectual property in science projects, reduced the risks of intellectual property rights, and promoted the technological innovation as well as the sustainable development of production and operation of the company.
