Solar Calculator

See how much CO2 emissions you can save using Solar Panels. First, use the Map to find your location in the world. Then enter the size of each of the required Suntech Solar Modules, in Watts. Finally enter average daily amount of energy needed, in kWh/day. Then click "Calculate" and see how many tonnes of CO2 emissions you can save over the lifespan of a solar panel.

The number of Suntech Modules required is based on 'insolation' (solar energy) to a horizontal surface, using data from NASA. Calculations are based on a yearly average of this daily data, which is from a 10 year period (1983-93). This average does not take into account seasonal changes, normal day to day weather differences, angle of modules or other factors. Calculations are a guide only to the DC power generated and you should discuss with your system provider to design a complete system, taking in the inclination and direction the modules are facing.
