Suntech signed a 10-year material contract with MEMC worth $6 billion USD. This important contract ensures Suntech's material supply for the next 10 years.

Dec 2005 The first plant of 30MW solar cell base started to build in Luoyang; this was the start of Suntech's global strategy.

Suntech's IPO on the New York Stock Exchange was the turning point for Suntech's global strategy and the development of the Chinese PV industry.
Sep 2005 Suntech's 120MW solar cell base put into production, China's first mega-watt scale production facility.
Aug 2004 Suntech's 25MW cell line was put into operation, bringing Suntech's total capacity to 50MW to become one of the largest silicon cell manufacturers in the world.
Dec 2003 Suntech's 15MW solar cell line is put into production. Suntech's 2nd production line was China's first crystalline silicon cell production line.
Sep 2002 Suntech's 10MW line was put into operation. The officers from the ministry of Science and Technology and industrial association attended the opening ceremony. Professor Martin Green, the chief scientist of international solar cell field and a Nobelist, attended the ceremony.
